In early November, Vilnius University (VU) and SEB Bank formalized a strategic partnership to foster a closer connection between higher education and the business sector, emphasizing innovation and the development of practical skills among students. This collaboration, initiated by the Vilnius University Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (VU EVAF), reflects the faculty’s ongoing commitment to finding innovative opportunities to partner with industry.
VU EVAF has a longstanding history of organizing the Tech Hub pre-accelerator program, designed for Vilnius University students aiming to cultivate entrepreneurial skills, build teams, and engage with the startup ecosystem. This year’s program, conducted in close collaboration with SEB Bank, will offer participating students real-world challenges provided by SEB Bank. Throughout the first week of November, students will work on challenges focused on streamlining financial tasks for startups, fostering investment habits among university students, and introducing children and young people to their first experiences in digital banking. This initiative will give student teams the chance to develop innovative solutions, honing their problem-solving abilities and strengthening their professional skills.
Academic and Professional Opportunities for Students
The partnership between Vilnius University and SEB Bank extends beyond the Tech Hub pre-accelerator program. SEB Bank is also committed to supporting VU students through a variety of academic and professional initiatives, including internships, guest lectures on current industry topics, and offering thesis project topics. This collaboration will allow students to work on real business challenges with guidance from SEB professionals, enhancing their knowledge and building essential skills.
“This partnership provides our students with a unique opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in practical situations and develop the skills needed in today’s job market. We are confident that these joint efforts will contribute to innovation and effective knowledge sharing between academia and the business sector,” stated Gediminas Rumšas, Vice-Dean for Partnership and Projects at the VU Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
This collaboration promises to provide students with an in-depth look into the business world, improve their skills, expand their professional networks, and better equip them to meet the demands of the modern job market.
