20 June the graduates of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Vilnius University were awarded their diplomas at a solemn ceremony in St. John's Church. A total of 335 students received their diplomas and were greeted by a large number of the Faculty's community, partners, lecturers, friends, relatives and colleagues.

At 9:00 a.m., the diplomas were awarded to the graduates of the Bachelor's degree programmes in Economics and Quantitative Economics. The participants were greeted by the Rector of Vilnius University prof. dr. Rimvydas Petrauskas, VU FEBA Vice Dean for Studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roma Adomaitienė, Head of the Department of Quantitative Methods and Modelling, Associate Prof. Arūnas Bartkus. Student representatives also greeted the participants.

"Studying economics has given you a deep understanding of how society functions, how decisions are made at micro and macro level, how economic challenges are addressed. I wish that the competences and skills acquired at the University will enable you to successfully fulfil your professional ambitions", R. Adomaitienė stressed in her congratulatory speech.

The students of the programmes have already distinguished themselves during their final theses and have been rewarded for their excellent results by their partners and lecturers. The Senior Economist of the Bank of Lithuania Žymantas Budrys presented the award to the two students who had written the best Bachelor's theses in Quantitative Economics: Paulius Kazlauskas and Sofija Volungevičiūtė. This year, Simas Kraelskas and Simona Mažeikaitė were awarded a nominal scholarship of 500 euros for the best final thesis on the topic of energy, which was established by the faculty's lecturer T. Karpavičius. Congratulations to the students for their excellent achievements!

At 12:00, the graduates of the Bachelor's degree programmes in Accounting and Audit, Global Marketing, Business Information Systems, Business and Law, and Management received their diplomas. During the ceremony, the graduates and guests were greeted by the Vice-Rector of Studies of Vilnius University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Valdas Jaskūnas, the Vice-Dean for Partnership and Projects Gediminas Rumšas, the Head of the Business Information Systems Programme, Professor Dr. (HP) Rimvydas Skyrius, and the student representatives.

"Starting today, you are part of 200 000 VU alumni." - "My advice to you today is that VU alumni are incredibly friendly - cherish the connections you have made, and don't hesitate to use them - ask for advice, recommendations, introductions to other people. This will help you reach your goals faster, easier and together with others."

At 14:00, diplomas were awarded to doctors of Management and Economic sciences and the graduates of Accounting and Financial Management, Global Business and Economics, Quality Management, Public Policy Economics, Business Process Management and Business Development Master study programmes. The ceremony was welcomed by the Vice-Rector of Vilnius University, Prof. Dr. Valdas Jaskūnas, Vice-Dean for Research, Ignas Zimaitis, Chris Butler, OBE, Director General and Member of the Board of UAB Citco Mercator.

"You are not leaving the University - you are just finishing your studies. In the meantime, from this moment on, you become alumni of Vilnius University - members of a strong, meaningful community, shaping the future of your country, your Europe, your world."  - Dr. I. Zimaitis addressed the students and encouraged them not to forget the beauty of patronage: "look back to the state, society, community and share what you have - your time, your competences, your accumulated capital".

The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Vilnius University always welcomes new and returning former students: to further deepen their competences and experience in advanced studies, to join the community of academics and lecturers, and for future joint research, partnerships and cooperation in raising the level of Lithuania's economic and financial culture in Lithuania.
