VU FEBA Dean participated in an international event "Masterclass of digital transformation of tourism"!
On Wednesday, the 8th of December, prof. dr. Aida Mačerinskienė participated in the event “Masterclass of digital transformation of tourism” organized by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation together with the International Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The international event was attended by more than 170 participants representing companies, organizations and the scientific community in the tourism sector.
The event was opened by Vincas Jurgutis, Deputy Minister of Economics and Innovation. Professor at Leeds Beckett University David J. Parsons discussed the findings of a study on digital skills shortages in the tourism sector. Jane Stacey (OECD) presented the key challenges of digital transformation in tourism. Jukka Punamäki analyzed the capital of smart tourism Helsinki. Ramón Sánchez (Germany) and Ekaterina Tomfort (Jordan) reviewed examples of digital advertising companies in the countries based on data analytics.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Vilnius University prof. Aida Mačerinskienė presented a report on "Implementing a blockchain-based billing system to promote the use of tourism services after the COVID-19 pandemic" on the topic "A new component of the tourism sector - cryptocurrency" together with other speakers, answered questions and discussed innovative billing solutions of tourism services for businesses.
