We are happy to invite you to the research seminar by the Department of Business. On May 23rd Jurgita Butkevičienė and Miklos Kozma (Corvinus University of Budapest) will present the topic „Network density to support people with disabilities in inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystems“ in MS Teams.

Brief overview of the seminar

The involvement of people with disabilities in entrepreneurial action is gaining momentum in global policy and international business research. Entrepreneurship happens within entrepreneurial ecosystems with more focus on social inclusion. Our research aims to understand how inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystems can be developed and improved with a particular focus on the impact of network density on the opportunities for people with disabilities. We reviewed 189 systematically selected articles from the Web of Science and Scopus databases from the aspects of the nine attributes of thriving start-up communities. We concluded with a conceptual model for inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystems concerning people with disabilities, indicating idiosyncratic players like family and friends and social enterprises that play crucial roles in symbiotic relationships within the ecosystem. The societal context into which perceptions, norms and values related to people with disabilities are embedded can be changed by the concerted efforts of crucial members of the ecosystem, supported by the density of formal and informal networks. Finally, international opportunities add a progressive dimension to the ecosystem as a source of sustainability through access to global markets and as inspiration for new interpretations of how people with disabilities can be understood and appreciated in business and society.
