It’s no secret that when choosing a career or study path, we often rely on the personal experiences and recommendations of friends and acquaintances. It’s especially encouraging to see that many international students who choose to study at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (VU EVAF) often mention in their applications that they were inspired to apply by friends already studying here. "For years, we’ve been hearing that our current and former students are the best ambassadors for our faculty. We highly value their input, as we understand that personal recommendations and genuine experiences play a crucial role when a young person is deciding to study abroad in a new country, with a new culture, and in an unfamiliar city. That's why we want to express our gratitude for this often unseen contribution and their active role in promoting VU EVAF and studies in Lithuania,” says VU EVAF Dean Aida Mačerinskienė.

The VU EVAF Ambassador Scholarship is designed to encourage VU EVAF students to become true ambassadors and recommend VU EVAF studies to international students, increasing the number of international students and promoting the internationalization of our studies. According to Eglė Ramoškaitė, Head of Marketing and Communications at VU EVAF, it is common for students to be recognized for academic or athletic achievements, but in today’s world—especially in business—soft skills like communication, networking, sales, and representing oneself or one's organization are equally important. As a faculty that educates not only economists, finance experts, and managers, but also students in marketing and communication fields, we highly value and encourage the development of these skills that are essential for future careers. Many modern companies offer referral bonuses to employees who bring in skilled professionals, so we are proud to be the first faculty at Vilnius University to launch a similar program for our students.

All active and academically successful VU EVAF undergraduate and master's students, except those in their final year of study, can apply for the Ambassador Scholarship. The scholarship is a one-time payment, determined by the number of international students referred to the faculty in a given semester and the study program they choose. The scholarship amount ranges from 15% to 25% of the semester’s tuition fee, meaning students could receive between €274 and €682. Students can apply for this scholarship annually, with new international students joining each year.

Of course, there are certain requirements to receive the scholarship. Interested students will need to attend brief training sessions and receive a special ambassador code. The scholarship will only be granted if the referred international student successfully enrolls in a VU EVAF program and completes their first semester without academic debts. This system not only encourages students to refer talented peers but also motivates them to support their referred students in adapting to studies and life in Lithuania.

Most importantly, receiving the Ambassador Scholarship does not prevent students from being eligible for other state or university scholarships.
