How do I apply for a temporary residence permit (TRP) for studies at Lithuania?
STEP 1. You need to complete an online application in MIGRIS e-system and upload copies of the required documents.

When I Need to Register for Studies?
All students should come 1 or 2 days before the beginning of the semester (start of the Orientation Week). If you are not able to come on time, make sure to inform the Admissions Office and your study programme coordinator. You must register for studies during the first day of the Orientation Week or as soon as you arrive at the Admissions Office in the case of late arrival. Remember to inform the Accommodation Office of the date of your arrival if you have a dormitory room booked for you as well.
There is a checklist of things that you should make sure of before you arrive:
– you have Temporary Residence Permit;
– your passport is valid not less than 1 year after the end of your intended study period at Vilnius University;
– you have taken your educational documents and their certified copies (the originals and translations into the English, Russian or Lithuanian language);
– you have Health Insurance valid in Lithuania;
– you have had a conversation with your mentor if applicable. If you have asked for a mentor and no one has contacted you, please inform ESN VU at immediately;
– you have a confirmation on accommodation reservation at Student Dormitory. If not, please contact the Accommodation Officer.
What Are The Accomodation Options?
– Staying at Vilnius University dormitories if you will study in Vilnius. You can submit your application on the online admission system at apply.vu.lt after you receive your acceptance letter; – Finding accommodation elsewhere if you study in Vilnius, Kaunas or Šiauliai (as there are no Vilnius University dormitories available). –

Should I Register at Identity Management System?
All international and local students must register at the Identity Management System at id.vu.lt to be able to access all of the IT services provided at Vilnius University. This must be done during the first month of studies (from September 1st) although we highly encourage you to do this as soon as possible.
Students services like personal email, eStudent information system, Virtual Learning Environment, Virtual Library and Internet access can only be accessed after registering at the Identity Management System.
Does the university organizes airport pick-up?
No. All arrival matters should be organized independently by the student.
Do we offer a Lithuanian language course?

What is a study break, how can I apply?
If a student (unclassified student) is no longer able to continue studying due to justified reasons, the head of the core academic unit can allow the student to suspend his studies for no more than one year.
