Suspension of studies
You may suspend studies or take an academic leave due to financial or other justified reasons (illness, maternal/paternal leave, etc.). The suspension of studies, as well as academic leave, is provided for one year. After the period of suspension of studies, you have to submit a Request for resumption of studies. Otherwise, you will be expelled from the University as an inactive student.
Termination of studies
If you wish to terminate your study agreement, please submit a request Application for Consultation for Termination of the Study Agreement using your e-student account on is.vu.lt, afterwards, your study programme coordinator will contact you and instruct you about the following procedures. After the termination of studies, the paid tuition fee may be reimbursed, however, it may be reduced depending on the time of termination of studies. The amount of the reimbursement may be reduced proportionally: after each month of the current semester, the refund is reduced by 20%. Please see here for more information Description of the Procedure of Payment, Reimbursement, and Recovery of Tuition Fees at Vilnius University.
Resumption of studies
The resumption of studies is the return to studies after the termination. Students who resume studies are accepted only to the non-funded places.
Studies are resumed from the beginning of the semester, by the Request, submitted to the Dean no later than 5 days before the new semester. The differences between a student’s previous and intended study programme (if it does not exceed 15 credits) must be eliminated during one year after the resumption of studies. Those differences are not considered academic debts.
